Never too late to learn!

The Scrabble group meets on alternate Thursday mornings to play Scrabble.  It’s a very informal and enjoyable experience – lots of chat as well as the traditional Scrabble focus on words and how they’re spelled.  We meet for fun, not serious competition, but we’re all learning from the experience and from the various skills of other players, so together we do know how to put together some high-scoring games.  If you’ve played Scrabble before with friends and family you’ll be very welcome, but equally, if you’re a beginner we’d be delighted to help you pick up the various strategies of the game by attaching you to another player until you want to ‘go solo’.

Our venue is The Wheatsheaf pub and restaurant on Station Road in Coleshill (B46 1EE) where we use the tables in the bar area.  Our sessions run from 10.30 am to 12 noon, on alternate Thursdays.  The Wheatsheaf offers plenty of parking for members and a good social atmosphere.  They don’t charge us for table space so there’s no session fee, but we each buy a hot or cold drink during the course of the morning in recognition of the goodwill of the management.

We are currently a small group and we’re encouraging new members to give our U3A Scrabble group a try, as games are much better with a good mix of participants.  Please get in touch if you’d like to come along!
